Incidents

Create, investigate, communicate, and resolve operational incidents with a durable timeline.

1

Automatic incidents

  1. A monitor-created incident identifies its creator as Monitor or FaultPilot automation—not as a human user.
  2. It opens only after the monitor's failure threshold is satisfied.
  3. Recovery can update or resolve it after the configured success threshold.
2

Manual incidents

  1. Create a manual incident when impact is known through support, deployment, or another provider.
  2. Choose affected monitors, severity, current lifecycle state, and a concise customer-safe issue summary.
3

Updates and timeline

  1. Add operational updates as investigation progresses.
  2. Keep raw response evidence private and publish only appropriate status-page communication.
  3. Use timestamps in UTC where teams cross regions.
4

Resolution

  1. Confirm the service is genuinely stable before resolving.
  2. Record the cause and corrective action when known.
  3. Use a post-incident review for recurring or high-impact failures.
